Passage: Psalm 93
The Big Idea
Psalm 93 is five verses of pure confidence: The Lord reigns. He’s clothed with majesty and strength, His throne is from everlasting, and though the floods lift up their roar, the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters. His testimonies are sure, and holiness adorns His house forever.
Reflections
The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty (v. 1). You’re in charge. You’re not challenged. You decide, lead, guide and protect. You’re worthy, wonderful, awesome, glorious and mighty.
Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting (v. 2). You’ve been in charge forever, and no one has ever truly challenged You. You’re older than the earth, older than any idea of time. Nothing surprises or scares You. I remember how ancient You are this morning, and I know You’re able.
The floods have lifted up their voices; the floods lift up their waves (v. 3). You promised never again to flood the earth in judgment, so these floods are the enemy’s voices and waves, trying to make me stop trusting You. I won’t listen to them. I’ll trust You, whatever floods come.
The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters (v. 4). You’re so much more powerful, and You’re good, committed to me and loving me. Nothing is too much for You.
Your testimonies are very sure; holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever (v. 5). Your promises are sure, and You never lie. Show me Your will, not mine. I lay my own will down.
Grace Takeaway
The waves are loud, but they don’t have the last word. The Lord reigns, His promises are sure, and He’s mightier than every roaring flood in your life.
